Attack ship vs. fighter[]
The name "fighter" never seemed appropriate for these ships. Setting aside the fact that they're much too large to fit that term, the term "warship" has been used just as many times ("The Search, Part I", "Starship Down", "The Ship"), while the article titles for individual ships all refer to them as "attack ships" (i.e. Sisko's attack ship, Luaran's attack ship, etc.).
