Would an isolated community such as a starship have a flu season? Seems kind of odd to me... unless I just don't understand how flu seasons work. Aren't they related to things like weather and temperature? - TerranRich 15:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Flu season is more related to temperature, however temperature is related to weather. Flu season says that three of the contributing factors to a flu outbreak is, basically, close quarters, cold temperatures, and dry air. Close quarters are present on a starship. As to colder temperatures and dry air, who knows. It is possible that, because of the many different species on a starship, the common areas of a starship are set at certain atmospheric conditions. As to how that changes so there is a "season" is anyones guess. Maybe the influenza virus has mutated so that it cycles and somehow escapes whatever filters are in the atmospheric systems. ---- Willie LLAP 16:03, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, only Neelix was said to have any susceptibility to a flu season. It could be a Talaxian thing, it could even be merely a hypochondriac thing - which is precisely what the Doctor was implying. I think that calls into question whether the "flu season" was even real at all. He definitely was implying that it was Neelix's imagination that any treatment was needed. Also, if Voyager crew were to visit a planet which was in the midst of a flu season, they could pick it up that way. --TribbleFurSuit 19:00, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
