The novel The Devil's Heart spelled the three offshoot races as DiWahn, Dynasian, and Ikkabar. I know the novel isn't canon, but wouldn't the author have access to material that told her how to spell the names of the offshoot races? -- Jesster79 01:54, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

They are spelled Dewan, Dinasian and Iccobar in the script, which is the resource we regularly use to confirm otherwise unknown spellings. I will change the names (back?) in the article.
Another question: How were the Iconians mentioned in VOY: "Inside Man"? -- Cid Highwind 16:17, 28 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Encounter with an emmisary of the Iconians.[]

Star Trek, Gateways, What Lay Beyond, Book Seven of Seven, ISBN: 0-7434-3112-x , ch10, p.132

Kira Nerys is transported to an Iconian caretaker station. She has a conversation about the gateways with the caretaker of an Iconian control station. It had a panoramic view of space as if the room was open to space within a containment field. The creature was huge, about 2 and 1/2 meters tall, biped, humanoid, voice that sounded male, maroon cloak that obscured its features, moved as if drifting instead of walking. The caretaker can reprogram the gates from the control station.

Many different gateways:

starship size stargates called hezlats were first.. some large and inelegant.. some small and functional.. others other were palm-sized.

The Iconian emmisary said the Iconians had an agreement with the beings who "watch over your world(s)" and promised long ago not to interfere with them. (Meaning the Bajoran wormhole entities).

The Caretaker said that one of the things that doomed the Iconians was that they no longer travelled.. they lost sight of the journey in favor of the destination and warned her not to make the same mistake.

TOS episode featured Iconian technology?[]

Isn't the Iconian transmission system featured in the TOS episode; "All our Yesterdays"? Looks very familiar to the TNG episode; "Contagion". The preceding unsigned comment was added by 184.76.47.120 (talk).

Just because it looks similar, doesn't mean it is from the same race. Many technologies throughout Star Trek look similar to each other. 31dot (talk) 09:05, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
