Is this really a different occupation than arms dealer? Wikipedia, at least, has gunrunning and arms trafficking as one page. I say those are different terms for the same thing, so merge. Kennelly (talk) 17:32, January 11, 2016 (UTC)
- You're unspokenly equating saying arms dealer = arms trafficking to make that argument. Gun running might be synonymous with arms trafficking, but that doesn't mean it's the same as arms dealing. One is always illegal and involves smuggle, whereas the latter can be perfectly respectable. -- Capricorn (talk) 00:02, January 12, 2016 (UTC)
But the arms dealer page is about both, the legal and the illegal selling of weapons, so why a separate article about another term for someone who illegally deals in weapons? Kennelly (talk) 13:46, January 12, 2016 (UTC)
- That is a completely different argument from the one you made initially. Still I'd say they should remain separate, for the same reason gun runner should not be merged into smuggling: just because A is such a general subject that B can be said to be an example of A, does not mean that B is not a distinct subject. -- Capricorn (talk) 21:24, January 12, 2016 (UTC)
