Why visiting Talos IV is the only death penalty crime left on the book is very mysterious. But if we look at the episodes clearly we can see a posible rationale. It is stated that the Taloians have lost their ability to build a viable society because of their advanced mental powers that leave them in a kind of constant state of fantacy. We are warned that contact with the Talosians could mean similiar problems could happen to humanity. This sort of parallels are current day drug policies in some ways, something Gene Roddenberry would had been familiar with. The no contact order was to protect humanity from falling into a kind of mental addiction which could destry all of society. Federation 22:35, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
