Replicators in the original series Edit

In the star trek encyclopedia to the future it says that in the episode flashback it establishes that replicators were not around in kirks original voyagers, instead there were simply food slots. But in one episode kirk, mccoy and spock all where nazi uniform and in another episode there get guns from the 20th century. The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

The Nazi episode you speak of is "Patterns of Force". They had a ship's store on board (overseen by the ship's quartermaster, I believe) where their uniforms and clothes are tailored. The creation of these uniforms involves computer involved in the sizes and measurements of the clothing. The computer screwed up McCoy's measurements somehow so his boots didn't fit properly. Not sure about the guns, and I don't recall the crew having something on the ship ever making 20th century weapons. --From Andoria with Love 15:36, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

The episode where they use old weapons it may not be 20th century weapons is "A private little war". This is a quote from wiki. In the end, Tyree realizes the importance of the "fire stick" weapons and Kirk orders Mr. Scott to manufacture and beam down a hundred of the flintlocks and ammunition for the tribesmen -- he calls them "serpents for the Garden of Eden". Then they were, as stated, manufactured, not replicated. I would be shocked if a 23rd century explorer did not have a damn good metal shop, capable of handling 18th and 19th century guns with ease. --OuroborosCobra talk 14:48, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

A selector was a component of the food synthesizers used on the USS Enterprise. In 2268, Leonard McCoy offered to show Tomar how to use the selector. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")

Before I make this a page, is the selector the part that enables you to choose food from the food synthesizer, or the synthesizer itself? --LauraCC (talk) 16:22, March 2, 2016 (UTC)
