I would love to see a capture of this admiral's insignia. Federation 04:25, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Full Admiral nonsense Edit
Hello everyone, I'd like to make a few brief comments on some ridiculous misconceptions that have evolved from Admiral Fitzpatrick being referred to solely as "Admiral". I wouldn't think that I would need to remind people than any person holding the rank from rear admiral to admiral of the fleet is referred to simply as "admiral", but since most of the information here is in contradiction with that, I may as well. All people holding a rank from rear admiral to admiral of the fleet is simply referred to as "admiral", unless their full title is being read off in some sort of formal setting. This trend can be seen not only today, but all the way back to when there were first different levels of admirals in the Royal Navy. In the 1960s this was most certainly also the case, and that would have most likely transfered into the Star Trek universe. I therefor submit that it is ridiculous to assume that just because Kirk and Spock referred to Vice Admiral Fitzpatrick as admiral, he is one. We know for certain from various sources that two stripes intermediated with a think bar is the rank of vice admiral, and I see no reason to have information to the contrary on any of the pages here. - What pages are you referring to? As far as I can tell, all the pages on MA refer to Fitzpatrick as a Vice Admiral.– Cleanse ( talk | contribs ) 04:32, October 16, 2010 (UTC)
