Summary[]

Hello, I'm trying to write a summary for this episode (up to Act Four so far) and I'm having trouble telling the Vaadwaur apart. I keep saying "the Captain is talking with a Vaadwaur" instead of "talking with Gedrin." Does anyone know which Vaadwaur did what in this episode?– Vertex 23:11, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Transcript with lines by character, but don't rely too heavily on the spelling. --Alan del Beccio 23:17, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Thank you very much, could be useful in the future as well... --Vertex 00:55, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Talaxian[]

It's not entirely obvious how "Vaadwaur" came to mean "foolish" or "gullible" in ancient Talaxian - perhaps an etymologist can help? Or maybe it's just clumsy writing... ? --CoffeeBlack 15:12, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Vaadwaur meant a foolish person, because everyone who dealt with them was betrayed. It didn't mean the Vaadwaur were foolish. --bp 20:16, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Plot hole[]

Ok, I'm not sure why Voyager had to hide in the planet's atmosphere... couldn't they have just gone to warp? I'm guessing they were damaged in the initial firefight, but despite having watched that scene twice today, I can't remember anyone saying the warp drive was offline... anyone remember better than me? --CoffeeBlack 20:03, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, their warp drive is knocked offline during the attack. -72.87.174.180 05:23, January 14, 2012 (UTC)

Episode Title[]

Perhaps an explanation of the episode title is in order? It hails from the Golden Fleece, where Iason sows the teeth of a dragon, and the grow into warriors who fight amongst themselves until only the strongest few are left. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.214.8.68 (talk).

If you have citeable evidence that is why the writers chose it, it can be added.--31dot 21:28, April 11, 2010 (UTC)
From the episode:

Dragon's teeth.
Dragon's teeth?
An old Greek myth. After a dragon was killed in a war, its teeth were spread out over the battlefield. They took root and warriors sprung from the ground to continue the fighting.

Anyway, all the canon information is included at Dragon's teeth, and there is a link to Wikipedia for the rest. --bp 23:01, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Removed background notes[]

Removed these notes:

  • Despite the implication to the contrary at the end of the episode, the Voyager crew never encounter the Vaadwaur again although they are mentioned a couple of times during the remainder of the series.
  • Janeway would have been very happy for a Betazoid right now, but according to VOY: "Counterpoint", there are multiple telepaths aboard, including Tuvok, and Jarot, a Betazoid.

They did meet a Vaadwaur assault ship in VOY: "The Void", although it wasn't specifically stated to be Vaadwaur. Janeway isn't a psychic; she expected to see them again. She didn't have a Betazoid available at the moment, nitpick. --bp 20:29, April 13, 2010 (UTC)
