Has any TNG writer or producer ever confirmed that Dixon Hill was based on Sam Spade? Some elements, like the secretary flirtation seem to suggest Spade; but other elements suggest different archetypes. An obvious example would be Chandler's Marlowe (The Big Goodbye seems a clear play on The Long Goodbye).

I've just seen "The Maltese Falcon" for the first time and I've also noticed that some scenes seemed familiar with Dixon Hill. It may have been one of the archetypes used for the creation of the character. - Philoust123 13:43, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
He was fashioned after Dixon Steele in In a Lonely Place, at least directly. Obviously pieced together with other elements as well. Either way, I have found no sources stating Sam Spade. --Alan del Beccio 02:33, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Do fictional characters deserve sidebars? -Angry Future Romulan 21:38, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

Like everyone else... only if there's enough information to actually warrant one. A sidebar for an image and a name is not needed, as it gives no more information than a thumbnail image would. -- sulfur 21:40, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

List of episodes Edit

I think the article should have a list of episodes featuring the Dixon Hill programs. I wanted to watch them all but I'm having trouble identifying them. I know there's The Big Goodbye, Manhunt, and the movie First Contact, but are there any others? - furrykef (Talk at me) 14:03, February 18, 2014 (UTC)

This is the article on the character. Try Dixon Hill series. There's a list of appearances therein. -- sulfur (talk) 15:13, February 18, 2014 (UTC)
