The supposed name of this character comes from the Man of the People script. [1] After taking a close look at the script I discovered that the Transporter Chief in the script was male, so he can't be considered the same character as the female officer played by Dru Wagner.

Furthermore, the name Daniels only appears in the cast list because it's a remnant from the script's first draft. --NetSpiker (talk) 09:19, November 21, 2017 (UTC)

Where are you getting that Daniels is a male?
  • "The TRANSPORTER TECHNICIAN works the console"
  • "to Transporter Chief"
  • TROI: "Chief..."
  • "The Transporter Chief"
  • "the Chief"
  • "The Transporter Chief"
  • "A TRANSPORTER CHIEF, stands ready behind the console"
  • "the Transporter Chief"
  • PICARD: "Chief --"
  • "to Transporter Chief"
  • PICARD: "Chief, transport then to the surface."
Each reference seems relatively gender-free to me. So correct me if I'm wrong, but I fail to see the validity of that argument. –Alan del Beccio (talk) 15:36, November 21, 2017 (UTC)
There are references to a transporter technician and chief in the script. I suspect that NetSpiker is referring to this line in the script:
  • The Transporter Chief moves toward Maylor. Alkar addresses Maylor, nodding toward the Chief.
  • ALKAR: "Go with him..."
My bet is that the script was written with a male in mind originally, and then cast as a female instead... -- sulfur (talk) 15:47, November 21, 2017 (UTC)
Ah, indeed. --Alan del Beccio (talk) 18:58, November 21, 2017 (UTC)
