James Coburn passed away on November 18, 2002. He once played a character named Cyrus Ramsey in a episode of "Murder She Wrote" called "Day of the Dead". This episode, "Vanishing Point", aired on November 27, 2002. Given the shooting schedule, it seems impossible that the character Cyrus Ramsey was a nod to James Coburn, but ... Is it really that simple?

Maybe it's just me, but: I kind of thought that the episode was intentionally vague about what really occurred -- and that it was left open for the viewer to at least consider the possibility that Hoshi's adventures during the episode took place in some other or alternate reality. Maybe it went down in a not-so-dark mirror universe? I just think that the "Cyrus Ramsay" business only makes sense as a narrative device to point out that something odd had happened -- not to definitively mark the events of the episode as "just a dream." You know -- like an old episode of Sliders, when they'd casually mention "Abe Lincoln," and the guest star would respond "Abe who?" 08:37, April 23, 2012 (UTC) RR
