The team name Crenshaw Monarchs may have partly drawn inspiration from a Negro League baseball team of early to mid-20th century, Kansas City Monarchs. The Monarchs had many Negro League stars, including Jackie Robinson, who became the first African American to play Major League Baseball when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. The Dodgers subsequently moved to Los Angeles, California. A predominately African American neighborhood in Los Angeles is called Crenshaw after the boulevard that runs through it.

I don't think that sharing "Monarchs" is enough to make that determination. --OuroborosCobra talk 06:22, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
