IMDB linkEdit

Per Help:How to write a great article, I reverted the removal of the IMDB link. -- THOR 18:43, 12 Mar 2005 (GMT)

I reverted back. The link is not about Cartwright, it is about Brock Peters. Actor info belongs on the actor's page, not the character's page. -- Michael Warren | Talk 18:48, 12 Mar 2005 (GMT)
I acquiesce, and defer to the judgement of an administrator. My apologies.
In reference to this though, could there be or is there already a written SOP for how this should be done somewhere? And if not, may I suggest the addition of one? -- THOR 19:57, 12 Mar 2005 (GMT)

Captain Cartwright - source? Edit

I only found an IMDB listing which mentions Federation Captain Cartwright and the actor in an uncredited appearance. Should I look for a nameplate in one of the Academy scenes, or what is the actual source of this information? It should be clarified, since it is not immediately obvious even after several viewings of the movie. – NotOfTheBody 19:07, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

The source appears to be the actor who played the role. Though I'm the first one to say that it shouldn't be readily acceptable without confirmation. — Morder (talk) 19:21, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Aha, I see in the history of this article that Errik Tustenuggee apparently added the information himself, judging by the username Errikt. However, unless we have canon confirmation in the form of a nameplate or similar, the information should be removed from the canon section. It can be retained in the background section, but at the very least we should add "according to Errik Tustenuggee who played the role". It would be ideal if the actor could scan in a document showing the name of his role or at least describe in the background section where he obtained that information, so we can trace it back more easily. If we were to find the original source, it could provide us with more names for the various background people. – NotOfTheBody 19:53, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

All that's needed is an {{incite}} tag for now. — Morder (talk) 20:17, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
I seem to recall something about background actors on the film being encouraged to name their characters. Am I remembering this correctly? -- 16:14, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

The section on his alternate reality counterpart should probably be split of into a sepperate article, that's how cases like this are generally treated. -- Capricorn (talk) 18:54, March 28, 2015 (UTC)

The info about the appearance of Cartwright played by Errik Tustenuggee is removed and this character is moved to the Unnamed Starfleet Academy personnel article as there is no source or proof that he was Cartwright. So no split is necessary. Tom (talk) 19:43, May 1, 2015 (UTC)
