Background informationEdit

It seems that "boronite" is misspelled as "bornite", isn't it? : [defchris] :: [ talk ] : 14:10, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Mispelled where? -- Renegade54 15:52, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't see where it is misspelled, but if that is the case, I don't think we need a talk page comment on it. Just be bold and fix it yourself. --OuroborosCobra talk 19:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

The question was whether the spelling of this article, "boronite", is correct or not, or if the proper spelling is actually "bornite". This isn't a matter of being bold or discouraging someone from questioning the source of spelling a term, but rather what the source is for this spelling, and if can it somehow be confirmed-- either by a script or closed captioning, etc. --Alan del Beccio 22:41, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't think that was the issue here. It seems to me that someone was just pointing out what they thought was a typo, not questioning the title of the article. I was trying to encourage them to fix a typo themselves, not discourage them from questioning the accurateness of the article title. --OuroborosCobra talk 02:54, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah, I really should think about what I want to say, before I send the text and leave then... ^^

What I was trying to say was that I couldn't find anything about boronite outside of MA - but there is a mineral called "bornite" that fits to the description given as background information. So I was asking whether this paragraph was just wrong (or at least I was trying to do so). : [defchris] :: [ talk ] : 23:56, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

User:defchris is right. The common-on-Earth material is usually spelled "bornite" and only less frequently spelled "boronite." Thus, I think it is safe to conclude that Seven of Nine was referring to some as yet unknown, different substance as "boronite." 98.197.198.167 06:18, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
