These where never shown on screen untill "End Game" right! so how did Voyager's crew know what it was? Secondly would these ships stand any chance against Species 8472 with it's stronger shields, extensive hull armour & stronger weapons?
- Simple, Seven of Nine would know ;) Also, I doubt a tactical cube would be able to stand a chance against Species 8472 ships. (PS, the tactical cube was shown in "Unimatrix Zero") - Enzo Aquarius 18:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
My mistake but Seven of Nine dose state that the collective has grown exponentially since she left, also she was only a drone so it would make sense she might not know everything about the current borg tech! Awar 11:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
The likelihood is that the newer Borg vessels seen after the short Borg-8472 war would be substantially better at surviving attacks from 8472 vessels, though, how much better is unquantifiable. Additionally, several episodes of Star Trek Voyager and inferences that can be taken from them and Captain Picard's comments in First Contact suggest that rather than knowing everything all the time, individual drones know what they need and remember from their own experiences, both before and after assimilation.
It is reasonable to assume that they can access the 'wider database' of knowledge stored in the entire collective as and when needed, however and that 'Hive-wide' broadcasts would be given as appropriate, many of these would appear as if intuitive actions to the Hive and its drones. This Hypothesis is also supported by the existence of database units (seen in ST:VOY) which Seven of Nine can access. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rabengar (talk • contribs).
- Not used in Canon Trek this design would make a cameo in the fan film production Star Trek: New Voyages (now known as Star Trek: Phase II) in their 2004 episode "Come What May".wbm
