- That much is obvious from your adding the merge template... the question is... why do you think that? -- Sulfur 16:09, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I disagree with merging (unless a good reason is stated). The Birthday page is about the anniversary of one's birth, and a birthday party is a party held on said anniversary, in some cases. Most of the incidents listed at Birthday did not involve any parties (Kirk's 2285 birthday for instance). We have seen some memorable dialogue related to both birthdays and birthday parties, so I think two pages are warranted.--Tim Thomason 18:20, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
I think it's a bit ridiculous to have both articles which are essentially about the same thing (can't be separated) and both separately in Category:Celebrations. IMO it would be better to have the birthday article state that sometimes a party is thrown and than listing all the birthdays we know of and have seen happen in episodes/movies, giving detail about parties thrown when appropriate. - A birthday is a yearly event, a birthday party is a celebration in honor of that event. Besides, it is not as if this site isn't rife with redundancy anyway, why is this any different. --Alan 10:31, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that a birthday party is different than a birthday. You can have a birthday without having a birthday party, which is one reason there should be seperate articles. As no one has commented on this since June, I'll remove the merge suggestion for now. 31dot 21:32, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
