We don't know when exactly nuclear weapons were used during the war, or what cities or regions they were used in. It's possible that San Francisco may not have faced a nuclear attack as of 2048. Hence O'Brien's comment that San Francisco never looked as bad as the one he saw in the alternate timeline.
Are we sure it was an alternate timeline and not a production error? Given comments in Little Green Men (That Gabrielle Bell looks a lot like Sisko), wasn't this indicated to be the 'true' timeline?– 22.214.171.124 14:53, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, we can be sure. A small change, like what a person looks like, is not that big a deal. Sisko still restored the rest of the timeline. O'Brien did not just see a different guy on a poster, he saw a century that was a hell of a lot wose off than it should have been in the main history. --OuroborosCobra talk 15:23, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Removed note Edit
While much of the background in this article needs to be looked at, this note most of all needs removing:
- One could also conceive that the education O'Brien had received in World War III was sanitized, and did not prepare him for the true horrors of the actual war.
O'Brien is not someone who was innocent to the horrors of war. He was a veteran of the Cardassian war, and had been present at the Setlik III massacre. --OuroborosCobra talk 23:33, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
