Background information

In 1973, after the initial contract for Star Trek: The Animated Series had run out, NBC ordered another 6 episodes to be made for the following year. These were the last animated episodes made, making a total of 22. They first aired in September and October of 1974, but NBC continued airing the series in re-runs through 1975.
