A T-Tauri class star (sometimes seen T Tauri) is one in the earliest phase of its lifespan. Shortly before initiating nuclear fusion within its core, the burgeoning protostar undergoes a period of severe fluctuation (known as the T-Tauri phase). This is categorised by strong solar winds, and intense X-ray and radio emission. The type is named for the first discovered star of this type, seen from Earth as part of the Taurus constellation.

T-Tauri type star

A T-Tauri type star in the Ngame Nebula.

A T-Tauri type star was one in the earliest phase of its lifespan. The type was named for the first discovered star of this type, seen from Earth as part of the Taurus constellation.

Small, extremely unstable wormholes are a phenomenon sometimes encountered in T-Tauri systems – in the century between 2267 and 2367, thirty-nine had been mapped.

In 2367, the USS Enterprise-D discovered a T-Tauri star system within the Ngame Nebula. The system had one planet, a Class M world, home to the xenophobic Paxans. In order to prevent the destruction of the Enterprise, its crew created the illusion that the Paxan planet was a frozen gas giant similar to Tethys III, and that the system contained a wormhole that flung the starship 0.54 parsecs from the system as it approached. All records of the reality of the Paxan system were erased and a hazard advisory was sent to Starfleet Command concerning the wormhole. (TNG: "Clues")
