An imaginary subspace rupture

A subspace rupture is a subspace anomaly. In the 23rd century, a Vulcan science vessel investigated such a rupture in the Hanoli system and detonated a pulse wave torpedo near it. The rupture expanded, destroying the ship and the star system. The rupture later reached critical mass and imploded.

In 2369, the crew of Deep Space 9 detected an unusual energy reading in the Denorios Belt. When Jadzia Dax was unable to locate the source, she remembered the Hanoli rupture and offered it as what was causing the readings. The crew, whose imaginations were being brought to life, imagined such as rupture which continued to grow until Benjamin Sisko realized what was happening. (DS9: "If Wishes Were Horses")
