Vulcan subcommander rank insignia of the 22nd century
Subcommander is a military rank used by organizations such as the Vulcan High Command and the Romulan Star Empire. Starfleet has choosen to unofficially recognize the rank as being higher in the hierarchy of command than a Starfleet Commander but below that of a Starfleet Captain.
