The Strnad system was an uninhabited system neighboring the Rubicun system. The primary was named Strnad. One of the planets in this system was a M class planet.

The system was located inside a stellar cluster containing 3,006 planets that were suitable for colonization. The star cluster was claimed by the Edo God, a powerful trans-dimensional being (or beings) worshiped by the Edo, the humanoid inhabitants of Rubicun III.

A planet of this system in 2364 was the temporary home of the Strnad colony. This colony was the home of former residents of Earth ferried there by the USS Enterprise-D. Later, after reaching an accord with the Edo God, the colonists were relocated by the Enterprise. (TNG: "Justice")

In 2371, the location of Strnad was labeled in the star chart Data and Picard were studying in stellar cartography aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (Star Trek Generations, okudagram)

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (2nd ed., p. 479), this system was "named for Star Trek: The Next Generation production staff member Janet Strnad."
