Steak with mushrooms, baked potato with sour cream and chives

Steak with mushrooms, sided with a baked potato topped with sour cream and chives

Steak was an ancient Human delicacy. It was a very simple dish, consisting of a grilled portion of meat (on Earth, usually beef), which is flavored and could be served with various side dishes including potatoes, vegetables, and eggs.

During the 2150s, Captain Jonathan Archer and Commander Trip Tucker of the Earth starship Enterprise NX-01 frequently ate steak at the captain's table. (citation needededit)

In 2151, ECS Fortunate first officer Matthew Ryan told Travis Mayweather while visiting the ship's mess hall for dinner, that the last time he had a steak was eighteen months ago. (ENT: "Fortunate Son")

In the 2250s, a menu of Earth foods in the mess hall aboard the USS Discovery listed an egg and cheese with synthetic steak. This food item was packaged in an egg-and-cheese pack, which was available from 00:00 to 11:00 hours. (DIS: "Despite Yourself")

In 2374, Julian Bashir, from the Federation space station Deep Space 9, was about to enjoy a steak with mushrooms, sided with a baked potato that was topped with sour cream and chives, at Quark's. He chose this meal in an attempt to break a fast he had started while journeying to Kal'Hyah when Jadzia Dax canceled her wedding to Worf. As he was escorted back to the holosuites, Quark informed him there were no refunds. (DS9: "You Are Cordially Invited")

The stage directions in the script of ENT: "Rogue Planet" (both the first draft and the final draft) identified some specific drayjin meat as steak, initially referring to it as "thick slabs of steak." In the episode, the meat is part of a meal which is eaten by a group encompassing Eska hunters Shiraht, Burzaan, and Damrus, as well as an away team from Enterprise, consisting of Captain Archer, Sub-Commander T'Pol, Lieutenant Malcolm Reed, and Ensign Hoshi Sato. The script pointed out that the steak was consumed by Archer and Reed; however, Sato is also shown eating in the final version of the scene (though T'Pol is not). Later in the first draft of the script, Captain Archer told the Eska hunters, "Don't get me wrong, the steaks were delicious." With this line omitted from the teleplay by the time the final draft was submitted, the only remaining references to the drayjin meat as "steak" were in the scripted stage directions of the meal.
