A statistical survey was a sampling of data on a particular topic taken in order to make use of varied information.

In 2371, The Doctor offered Kes a statistical survey of information relating to the decision as to whether or not to become a parent, as he had little perspective on the subject. He cited the Breen and Scathos as examples at either end of the scale; the former regularly becoming pregnant at a young age, the latter disallowed from conceiving until their fourth decade under penalty of death.
