(written from a Production point of view)
The Star Trek films started to be released in the Blu-ray Disc format in 2009 while Paramount Pictures was in the process of finishing up on the "remastering" of the first ten films, the digital enhancing in order to meet the HD standards, needed for this format. For technical reasons, only the original theatrical releases were upgraded into the new format. In 2010 the process was completed and all eleven features were from then on available in the new format.
As with the Remastered DVD edition counterparts, the US initially did not complete the run of individual releases, though Japan, belonging to that region, using the region B cover art, has. The remaining films saw individual releases in the US in 2013.
