Background Information

  • This is the only LaserDisc release of "The Menagerie, Parts I & II" featuring the standard disc jacket artwork. The US release of those episodes had been part of another LaserDisc set, and were never re-released.
  • "The Cage" retains the standalone artwork from the US version, and the cut with the B&W footage was not included.
  • For this release and its two follow-ups, Log 2 and Log 3, use was made of new transfers of the footage. The footage was cleaned up and color corrected, at the time called "digitally mastered", and was picture quality wise the best edition commercially available until the advent of the DVD. These transfers were also used for the UK 1996-1998 VHS re-release.
