Game board and game cards

The Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Game by BMI Holdings Ltd. was a UK-produced and marketed abstract game for two to six players. The game was released in 1992.

The aim of the game is to explore the board, starting at the Launch Pad (the two-by-three matrix of yellow dots), in order to reach the Docking Points of five of your colleagues. Movement is determined by the roll of a six-sided die.

When you land on a Docking Point (one of the pink spaces on the game track) by exact count (an exact roll of the die), you collect a character card (of either Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Commander William T. Riker, Lieutenant Natasha Yar, Lieutenant jg Geordi La Forge, or Lieutenant jg Worf) which, if you do not already have it, is placed face up next to you. Characters may also be "stolen" from other players by landing on the space on which their playing piece is situated.

The winner of the game is the player that is the first to collect their five colleagues and return with them to the Launch Pad.

It is interesting to note that although the game box shows a much later cast photo from TNG, the game cards depict the characters as they appeared in the first season. It also includes Tasha Yar as one of the five characters, who was killed off toward the end of the show's first year.
