(written from a Production point of view)
Squamish Boulders is a wildlife area near Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. It is well known for outdoor activities like bouldering and climbing.
Parts of this area are used as filming location for the 2016 sequel Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin. Scenes for the film are shot between 25 June 2015 and 26 June 2015 and between 29 June 2015 and 30 June 2015. The first three days of filming will cover the area around the Kacodemon Boulder and Cave Boulder and on the final day filming takes place south of the Black Dyke Boulder.
A notice to park users informed them about restricted access to this area because Center Forward Productions, Inc. is filming scenes for the Paramount Pictures feature film "Washington", the working title of Star Trek XIII. Preparations for these scenes were from 15 June 2015 until 24 June 2015. A park representative will be on set until it wraps.
On 26 June 2015 an updated notice to park users went available giving information about a changed schedule. It informed that the production team will be restoring the area until 6 July 2015. Also, several photos from the set including fake rocks, went online.
The same day the 16 pages of the filming permit contract from the BC Ministry of Environment with Center Forward Productions went online.
