For the spores used in Spore drive, please see Mycelium spore.

A spore was a structure used by some fungi and plants in order to reproduce themselves asexually.

In April of 2151, Commander Trip Tucker and Sub-Commander T'Pol were exposed to protocystian spores on the planet Rigel X. (ENT: "Broken Bow")

Doctor Phlox once discovered a peculiar colony of spores on a hull. (ENT: "Breaking the Ice")

The following year, Phlox examined Travis Mayweather to ensure that he was not carrying protocystian spores. (ENT: "Singularity")

During the 2240s and 2250s the Federation experimented with using a displacement-activated spore hub drive, or spore drive for short. It was an organic propulsion system created by Paul Stamets and Straal using mycelium spores harvested from Prototaxites stellaviatori. (DIS: "Context Is for Kings")

Agmar claimed as a descendant of 21st century Phylosians, his and others' spores were rendered "sterile" from Staphylococcus infection of that time period. (TAS: "The Infinite Vulcan")

Omicron spores

Pod plant spores being discharged

In 2264, members of the Omicron colony were infected by pod plant spores on Omicron Ceti III. Three years later, the USS Enterprise arrived at the planet, and the crew was infected by the spores, but the actions of Captain Kirk were able to save them. These spores infected a person, protecting them from dangerous berthold rays, and gave them perfect physical health (even regrowing missing organs). However, the perfect peace of mind these spores created also caused the victim to abandon their duties and engage in behavior they would not normally do. For example, a spore-infected Spock lost emotional control and fell in love with a former colleague. (TOS: "This Side of Paradise")

Plasma plague could survive in vacuum as spores, and thus remained dangerous if jettisoned into space. (TNG: "The Child")

In 2376, The Doctor sent Tom Paris and Neelix to a planetoid in the Wyanti system to gather spores that could be used to grow antiviral proteins. (VOY: "Live Fast and Prosper")

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (? ed., p. ?), spore pie was a common Ferengi dish served at the Replimat on board Deep Space 9.
