The Spanish Armada was a massive naval force sent in 1588 to neutralize Queen Elizabeth I's Royal Navy, establish a landing zone on Britain and bring the Spanish army waiting on the European mainland across the English Channel for the invasion and occupation of England. Ultimately England defeated the Armada.
