The USS Enterprise enters a Yorktown space lane
Space lanes were a series of tunnels within the "arms" of the Federation Starbase Yorktown in the 23rd century of the alternate reality.
In 2263 the USS Stargazer was cleared for Space Lane 4.
During the Attack on Starbase Yorktown, Krall breaks into one of the space lanes with three Swarm ships followed by the USS Franklin under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. While Krall heads into Yorktown itself chased by Spock and McCoy in a hijacked Swarm ship, the Franklin follows through the space lanes. Ultimately, the Franklin emerges from the space lanes into Yorktown Central Plaza to physically stop Krall and his ships. (Star Trek Beyond)
