Soren, a J'naii.
Soren was a member of the androgynous J'naii. In 2368, she and William T. Riker worked together on a mission to rescue a lost J'naii shuttle, the Taris Murn. During this time, Soren revealed to Riker that she regarded herself as female, despite a powerful social taboo against considering oneself to have a gender.
They fell in love and, although they attempted to keep their relationship secret, another J'naii reported the affair to the J'naii leaders. Soren was arrested and brought before a tribunal. Riker attempted to save her and told the tribunal that he forced himself on Soren. Soren denied his story, and stated that she became involved with him willingly. The tribunal regarded this as perversion, and Soren was sentenced to receive treatment and have her feelings cured. When Riker did rescue Soren she had already undergone the cure, a psychotectic mind control, and no longer had feelings for him. (TNG: "The Outcast")
