Soda pop (commonly known as a soft drink or simply pop or soda) was a carbonated beverage that was sweetened by various means. They were so named since they contained no alcohol, as opposed to hard beverages such as whiskey or beer which did contain alcohol. Examples of soda pop were root beer and cola.

The Goliath Gulp purchased by Tuvok presumably contained soda pop as well.

Sodas were also known on the Onlies' homeworld, where they had been on sale in the Palmerton Cafe in the 1960s. (TOS: "Miri")

In 1996, the museum at the Griffith Observatory had a soda machine. (VOY: "Future's End")

In 2267, while poking fun at Pavel Chekov about his beverage of choice, vodka, Montgomery Scott noted to him that where he came from, vodka was called "soda pop". (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

Soft drinks such as root beer were among the many beverages available at Quark's. (DS9: "Facets", "The Way of the Warrior")

In 2370, he offered Odo a drink, but the constable said he didn't drink. Believing the changeling meant that he didn't drink alcohol, Quark offered him a soft drink. When Odo repeated his earlier statement, Quark finally realized what he was saying and quipped, "I guess that's why we don't see you around here much." (DS9: "Necessary Evil")
