The sing-along was Human ritual around a campfire, after one consumes marshmallows.
In 2287, Spock, on shore leave camping in Yosemite National Park with James T. Kirk and Leonard McCoy, informed the others upon producing a "marshmelon" dispenser that they were required to participate in a singalong after consuming the treats, according to the USS Enterprise-A's computer database.
