The Siege of AR-558 was a battle during the Dominion War between the United Federation of Planets and the Dominion. AR-558 was a small planet on the front lines of the war, which housed a subspace communication array.
As a result, Dominion troops besieged the Federation base there with at least three columns of Jem'Hadar troops. The Dominion had also placed cloaked mines throughout the facility nicknamed "Houdinis" by the troops stationed there.
After a scouting mission by Nog and a Starfleet team which confirmed the size of the Jem'Hadar besieging force to Captain Sisko, the troops quickly set about preparing their defences.
Ezri Dax was successful in disabling the Houdini's cloaking systems and thus the Starfleet troops placed them in the path of the Dominion soldiers. The mines caught the Dominion troops in the blast, inflicting considerable loss on the attacking columns. The Jem'Hadar troops shortly thereafter stormed the compound, to come under heavy fire from the Starfleet troops.
