Shari Hanson was Paramount Pictures' Visual Effects Producer on 2009's Star Trek. She previously worked with Star Trek producer and director J.J. Abrams on the 2006 Paramount Pictures release, Mission: Impossible III, on which she was the Visual Effects Producer for Industrial Light & Magic.

Hanson began her career at ILM as an Associate Visual Effects Producer on the 2003 film Hulk, based on the popular Marvel Comics character. Starring in Hulk was Eric Bana, who is playing the villain in the new Star Trek film. Hanson's first project as Lead Visual Effects Producer was the 2004 blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow.

Including Star Trek and Mission: Impossible III, Hanson has produced the visual effects for four films written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The other two were 2005's The Island, which featured Star Trek: Voyager's Ethan Phillips in the cast, and the 2007 blockbuster Transformers. The latter film earned Hanson and Visual Effects Supervisor Scott Farrar two nominations from the Visual Effects Society Awards.
