Shane, Its only a paper moon

A shot from "Shane"

Shane was a popular film, produced on Earth in 1953, that depicted fictional events in the 19th century American West. It starred actors Alan Ladd as the lead character Shane, Jack Palance as Jack Wilson and Brandon De Wilde as Joey Starrett.

During his recovery, following the loss of his leg, Nog watched Shane on television while he lived in Vic Fontaine's hotel room in the holosuite aboard Deep Space 9 in 2375. (DS9: "It's Only a Paper Moon")

Shane also featured Elisha Cook, Jr., who appeared as Samuel T. Cogley in TOS: "Court Martial" several years later.
While directing "A Fistful of Datas", Patrick Stewart paid tribute to Shane by repeating a certain camera shot nearly exactly. The original is seen on top, the shot from "A Fistful of Datas" on the bottom.
