Warhead torpedo

Warhead torpedo

The Series-5 Long-range Tactical Armor Unit is a highly advanced torpedo designed by the Druoda, a Delta Quadrant species. Just over one meter long, the torpedo was designed for mass destruction. Its explosive yield consists of a highly focused anti-matter explosion with a blast radius of 200 kilometers.

The armor unit is powered by a condensed energy matrix, which alone can power a fleet of starships. Instead of a normal computer core, there is an class-11 onboard artificial intelligence which uses bio-neural circuitry to mimic humanoid synaptic functions. The intelligence programmed to take every measure necessary to ensure that it reaches its target. When separated from its explosive components and reprogrammed, it can be used to regulate a planet's weather grid or terraforming purposes.

The weapon is warp-capable and has a maximum range of eighty light-years. It is protected by parametric shielding. Its sensors are able to detect its position and when its systems are being tampered with. The torpedo is programmed with a targeting threshold of two light-years, meaning that when it is within two light-years of its target it cannot disarmed or diverted -- not even with the correct command codes. However, the detonation sequence can be stopped by routing a electromagnetic pulse through its power matrix.

In day-to-day operations, these torpedoes are controlled by the Druoda Strategic Command Matrix. Commands to launch or abort missions are sent to the torpedoes through the Matrix.

One of these machines was found by Voyager, when it answered a distress call. The machine's bio-nueral circuitry was malfunctioning and it thought it was an organic being, and it could not remember what its mission was. After the Doctor beams it to sickbay, the machine assumes the Doctor program and reveals it is a weapon of mass destruction, and using the Docotr's body to speack orders Janeway to take it to its target or it will destroy Voyager. The crew attempted to trick the machine and stop the doctor's program but this fails, and the ship is surround by more weapons, which order the weapon on Voyager to join them to complete their mission. Before the machine beams out, Kim discovers that a stand down order was issued by the machine's creators. The machine unable to convince the other machines of this, beams out to space and joins them and than denotes itself destroying the other machines, and saving there target from destruction.
