Sebastian Tom (20 May 19381 October 2009; age 71) was the actor who portrayed the Samurai warrior in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "Shore Leave". He filmed his scenes for the episode on Wednesday, 26 October 1966 at Vasquez Rocks. [1]

Tom graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1956, from the University of Southern California in 1963, and from Southwestern Law School in 1973. He worked in the family restaurant, the original New Moon in Downtown Los Angeles and served as Chief Council to Congressman Gus Hawkins.

Among his acting work are episodes of The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, The Wild Wild West (1966 and 1968, working with Robert Herron and directed by Larry Dobkin in the latter episode), and Kung Fu.

Tom passed away peacefully on 1 October 2009 at the age of 71.
