Keiko O'Brien once opened a school on Deep Space 9, where she taught Bajoran children secular science regarding the Celestial Temple. Kai Winn attempted to stop Mrs. O'Brien, but her plan was thwarted by Vedek Bareil Antos. (DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets")
Gul Dukat claimed that the Cardassian education was "unparalleled" in the Alpha Quadrant. By the age of four, Cardassian children are placed into intense mind training programs, allowing them to have photographic memories and the ability to be resistant to Vulcan mind melds.
