A scar was a visible mark of replacement of the skin following injury.

Kira Meru had a scar on the side of her face. Basso Tromac was ready to remove her for being "imperfect" but was stopped by Gul Dukat who healed the scar with a dermal regenerator. (DS9: "Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night")

The Ligonian Hagon had a scar on the left side of his face (TNG: "Code of Honor") as did the Klingon renegade Korris. (TNG: "Heart of Glory")

Admiral Mark Jameson revealed a scar on his right arm to Karnas in 2364 as a proof for his identity. (TNG: "Too Short a Season")

Scarface was a character in the holographic recreation of a Dixon Hill story. He had a scar on the right side of his face. (TNG: "Manhunt")

The Terran marauder from the mirror universe had visible scars around his left eye. (DS9: "Crossover", "Through the Looking Glass", "Shattered Mirror", "The Emperor's New Cloak")

In an alternate timeline in 2374, both, Captain Kathryn Janeway and Tuvok had scars in their face. Tuvok was wounded and suffered from blindness when a chroniton torpedo exploded right in front of him and Captain Janeway's skin featured scars following third-degree burns from the fire in Deflector Control. (VOY: "Year of Hell", "Year of Hell, Part II")
