Satler was part of a group of mercenaries that boarded the USS Enterprise-D during preparations for a baryon sweep in 2369 at Arkaria Base with the intent of stealing trilithium resin. He was from an unnamed species.
Satler first assisted the team in the warp core, helping to prepare the trilithium for extraction. When Captain Jean-Luc Picard was brought to Main Engineering, after attempting to sabotage the team's plans, Satler was assigned to guard him. However, when Captain Picard used a plasma torch to trigger an emergency seal-off in Main Engineering, he used the distraction to knock Satler down and sabotage the module that the team had prepared to transport the resin in. Satler then chased Picard through several Jefferies tubes, but was misdirected by Picard into running into the sweep, killing him. (TNG: "Starship Mine")
