The Ferry Building housing the neon sign

The San Francisco Ferry Building was a historical landmark in San Francisco, California. This building, located on the Embarcadero, was the terminal for ferries plying the San Francisco Bay. On the leading edge of the roof, and facing the bay, the Port of San Francisco had erected a red neon sign which promoted this city commission. Between the words "Of" and "San", there was a clock tower. At night, the clock face and sections of the upper tower were lit up.

In 1986, as the HMS Bounty flew into the city, the Ferry Building was seen briefly on the viewscreen. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

In 2259, this building was located near a bar visited by Montgomery Scott and Keenser. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

According to the clock tower, the starship USS Vengeance's path of destruction into San Francisco ended at 1:20 p.m. It is less clear when Captain James T. Kirk contacted Scotty as the clock hands were distorted.
