The Shiku Maru was a Federation starship that was in service at some point between the 2260s and 2368.
While under the command of Captain Silvestri, the ship encountered a Tamarian ship. Though the encounter was peaceful, the crew of the Shiku Maru were unable to establish communication with the Tamarians due to language difficulties. The ship's captain described the language of the Tamarians as incomprehensible. (TNG: "Darmok")
