"Row, Row, Row Your Boat" was an ancient Earth song with fairly simple lyrics. If analyzed, the lyrics didn't appear to make any sense.

In 2287, while camping in Yosemite National Park, James T. Kirk suggested singing this song during a "sing-along" around a campfire, among a selection of other songs such as "Pack Up Your Troubles" and "Camptown Races". They decided on "Row, Row, Row Your Boat", but Spock didn't participate due to finding the meaning of the words incomprehensible. Later, upon returning to camping, Spock played his Vulcan lute to the tune of this song. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

"Row, Row, Row Your Boat" was sung by pupils, including Timothy, in a classroom aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2368. (TNG: "Hero Worship")

Lyrics

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
