The Roswell Incident was the name given by Human conspiracy theorists in the late 20th and early 21st centuries to an alleged "alien" encounter in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Though it was denied and dismissed by all official agencies the story continued to be told and spread.

An alien spacecraft (a flying saucer) crash-landed in the desert near the small town of Roswell in 1947. Three alien lifeforms were aboard the craft which was completely destroyed, killing two and severely injuring the third. A US Air Force officer who arrived to investigate confirmed to various press agencies and witnesses that it appeared to be the wreckage of something from another world.
The US Air Force quickly took charge of the area, sealed it off and began a clean-up operation. Everything including the two bodies and the survivor were removed and the officer who leaked the news was forced to re-identify the wreckage as a crashed weather balloon to cover-up the incident. The wreckage of this craft and many others discovered in later years was moved to Hangar 18 inside of a top secret military base known as "Area 51."

Then things began to take a turn for the worse and the Humans lost their patience with their new guests; they began using drugs and threats of violence and dissection on the Ferengi. Luckily the Ferengi were aided in their escape by Odo and sympathizers Nurse Garland and her boyfriend Jeff Carlson.
The four returned to the shuttle which was being kept in Hanger 18 at an undefined US Army base. They then returned to 2372 without further incident. (DS9: "Little Green Men")
