Romii was the name of a star system in the Romulan Star Empire. It was located in Sector Z-6 near the Romulan Neutral Zone and Romulus. (TOS: "Balance of Terror")
Background
- There are three considerations to bear in mind when talking about Romii:
- 1.) Since the name "Romii" merely appeared on a map depicting the Neutral Zone, it has not yet been clarified whether Romii was the designation for a star, star system or a planet. There have been suggestions that Romii and Remus were the same world, though this would contradict the visual evidence shown in the map.
- 2.) A possible in universe explanation was that "Romii" was simply an older way of writing "Remus." A real world example of this was how Tokyo used to be written "Tokio."
- 3.) It was also possible that the "ii" in "Romii" is simply the Roman numeral for "2".
- Romii was a star system located in the Beta Quadrant. The system was located in Romulan space. Primary was a K-class star. Magnitude of this primary was +5, which was the same brightness as Sol. (Star Trek: Star Charts, page 56)
