The Riker Maneuver was a name informally given to an on-the-spot tactical move instigated by William Riker, temporarily in command of the Sovereign class USS Enterprise-E.

The tactic involved using the ship's ram scoop to collect volatile gas, in order to later expel and ignite it, creating wide-volume explosion to engulf attacking ships.

The term is informal. After completion Geordi La Forge states he "wouldn't be surprised if history remembers this as the Riker Maneuver". (Star Trek: Insurrection)

Geordi's comment may have been merely jovial. The maneuver is similar to a previously depicted incident in TNG: "Night Terrors" in which the Enterprise crew vented hydrogen into space to be ignited by another ship.
