Rigel V was the inhabited fifth planet of the Rigel system. It was the homeworld of the Rigelians, a warp-capable humanoid species. (TOS: "Journey to Babel"; ENT: "Demons", "Terra Prime") This planet was located in the Kandari sector, a region of space in the Alpha Quadrant. Andor was located nearby, in the same sector, and Earth was less than ninety light years away. (TNG: "Conspiracy" display graphic; ENT: "Two Days and Two Nights")
In early 2155, the Rigelians participated in talks discussing their wish to join as a possible member in the Coalition of Planets along with Humans, Tellarites, Andorians, Coridans and Vulcans. (ENT: "Demons", "Terra Prime")
Prior to stardate 3842, an experimental medical trial of a chemical stimulant was successfully completed on test subjects. This stimulant speeded up reproduction and replacement of blood in the body. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")
