Richard Hale (16 November 189218 May 1981; age 88) was an actor and opera singer born in Rogersville, Tennessee who played Goro in the Star Trek: The Original Series third season episode "The Paradise Syndrome".

One film role Hale is well-known for is the Soothsayer in the 1953 adaptation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, which also featured John Hoyt, Ian Wolfe, Lawrence Dobkin, and Michael Ansara. He and Ansara appeared in several other films together, including Kim (1950, with Dean Stockwell, Arnold Moss, and Hamilton Camp), Soldiers Three (1951), Jupiter's Darling (1955), and Pillars of the Sky (1956, with Keith Andes).

His other feature film credits include uncredited roles in All the King's Men (1949), Angels in the Outfield (1951, with Lawrence Dobkin), Springfield Rifle (1952, with David Brian), and Ben-Hur (1959, with Reginald Lal Singh), and credited roles in Scaramouche (1952, with John Crawford), Friendly Persuasion (1956, with William Schallert), Tower of London and (1962, with Robert Brown).

He was often cast in the role of a Native American, and as such, made guest appearances on several television Westerns during the '60s, including Bonanza, Cheyenne, Gunsmoke, Rawhide, and Wagon Train. He also appeared in a number of episodes of Perry Mason.

Hale co-starred with fellow Original Series guest actors Frank Overton, Paul Fix, William Windom, and John Megna, and Brock Peters in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962).

He later appeared in Night Gallery (1969, with Richard Kiley, Barry Atwater, George Murdock, and Byron Morrow).

Hale was a part of the cast of the 1978 TV mini-series How the West Was Won, as were his Original Series co-star William Shatner and fellow Star Trek alumni Fionnula Flanagan, William Boyett, Robert DoQui, Brian Keith, Ed Lauter, Ricardo Montalban, Gregg Palmer, Robert Phillips, George D. Wallace, Morgan Woodward, and Harris Yulin.

Hale died in Northridge, California, of cardiac arrest.
